Unique ellipse-shaped island in Rotterdam

On behalf of the Municipality of Rotterdam, we installed a unique elliptical island in the middle of the pond in the Prins Alexanderpolder. The Aqua-Flora Floatland covers an impressive 100m².

Two different planting schemes were chosen to create a more natural appearance and enhance biodiversity.

Additionally, a temporary anti-grazing structure was placed around the island. Anti-grazing structures are typically installed as a temporary measure. This ensures that the plants can firmly root in the ground during the initial period. After this phase, the anti-grazing structure can be removed, significantly reducing the risk of uprooting.
